Ruby on Rails Development & Hiring Services
TypeAngle is a Ruby on Rails software studio based in Victoria, BC.
My name is Akshay. I've worked as a professional software developer for over a decade — originally in C#/.NET, before falling in love with Ruby in 2021 and switching over to Rails full-time soon after.
After working for a few years as a full-time Rails developer, I started freelancing and then started TypeAngle Studio to help businesses build and maintain websites and web applications using Ruby on Rails.
This isn't a traditional agency. It's a small, focused software studio: just me, working directly with you. I'm not managing a team of junior devs or handing off your project to someone else. You work with an experienced developer who understands both the technical side and the business context.
I like to keep things simple, sticking to vanilla Rails whenever possible so the app stays easy to understand and easy to work with. No fancy stuff unless it's really needed. Just clean, dependable Ruby code that does what it’s supposed to do.
I’ve worked with early-stage startups, growing teams, enterprise companies, and other larger Rails agencies taking over legacy Rails projects. If you need someone who can jump into your Rails codebase, figure things out quickly, and start contributing without a long ramp-up, that's where I can help.
I also write a technical blog called Write Software, Well, which is read by more than 30,000 Ruby and Rails developers around the world each month. The blog has played a huge role in shaping my career and connecting me with other developers globally. That reach is also a big asset when it comes to hiring Rails devs, especially for senior or remote roles — which brings me to my next service.
I can help you hire Rails developers
Hiring good Rails developers is hard. Especially if you don't have in-house Rails expertise, or if you've been burned by generic hiring agencies that don't understand what the job actually involves. That's where I can help.
- Sourcing candidates and vetting them to see if they're a good fit
- Doing the first technical interview on your behalf
- Evaluating code quality, communication, and practical Rails knowledge
- Helping you avoid hiring someone who looks good on paper but can't program
If you're building a Rails team, especially remotely or in a distributed setup, I can help you find the right people. I've also worked with companies that want to hire Rails developers in India, and I can assist with sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and even training your team.
You don't need a bloated hiring pipeline or fancy assessments. You just need someone who knows the stack, understands what a good developer looks like, and can help you hire with confidence.
