Finding solid Ruby on Rails developers is hard. Vetting them is harder. If you’re building a product and want to spend less time sifting through resumes and more time onboarding developers who can actually deliver, I can help.

If you don't have in-house Rails expertise, or if you've been burned by generic hiring agencies that don't understand what the job actually involves, that's where I can help.

How it started?

I’m a Ruby on Rails developer. I've worked as a professional software developer for over a decade. I work primarily with businesses to build and maintain their web applications using Ruby on Rails.

I recently helped a software client hire multiple Rails developers to build their engineering team. I wrote the job posting, shared it with my network, personally reviewed over 200 resumes, short-listed and interviewed over 50 candidates, and sent solid candidates to the company, who ended up hiring 5 developers. I even handled their onboarding and initial Rails training.

I enjoyed the process so much that I decided to offer it as a professional service.

What I Do

I write a software blog read by over 30,000 developers all over the world and have built a strong network and community of Rails developers on LinkedIn. I help software companies:

  • Source Ruby on Rails developers from my global network (India, US, Canada, Brazil, and beyond) and review their resumes.

  • Vet candidates through structured technical interviews to see if they're a good fit for your team and company.

  • Shortlist only those who meet your requirements. This is where I'll evaluate code quality, communication, and practical Rails knowledge.

  • Optionally onboard and train new hires in Ruby on Rails best practices.

Essentially, I will help you avoid hiring someone who looks good on paper but can't program. Because I’m a developer myself, I can spot good developers quickly. Because I'm a writer, I can quickly tell which resume and cover letter was generated by a ChatGPT prompt and which is genuine, written by a real human.

I understand code quality, communication skills, and real-world problem-solving, not just resume buzzwords. That makes me faster and more accurate than generic recruiters.

How It Works

1. You share your requirements. Tell me about the role, your team, your stack, and your expectations.

2. I source and screen candidates. I’ll promote your opening through my blog, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Reddit. I’ll conduct the first round of interviews and narrow down good candidates.

3. You interview the shortlist. Your team can focus on evaluating a small, curated list of strong candidates. Your expensive senior / lead developers won't have to waste their time reviewing AI-generated resumes and applications and screening candidates. They will only see developers worth interviewing.

4. I can also help with onboarding. If needed, I can train new hires on Ruby on Rails basics, conventions, or project-specific practices.

Important: Pay Only If You Hire

I typically charge around 8% to 10% of a candidate's annual salary, depending on the seniority level of the candidate.

You only pay me a month after the candidate joins the company and starts working with your team. Only after you’ve personally vetted if they’re a good fit for your team.

If within the month, for some reason, you and the candidate decide to part ways, I won’t invoice you, and will try to help you find another candidate. No hard feelings, whatsoever.

Why Work With Me?

Most recruiters don’t write code. I actively do and enjoy it. I’ve worked on production Rails apps, conducted technical interviews, and trained junior developers. I understand the difference between textbook knowledge and real-world skills, and I use that lens to evaluate every candidate.

Get in Touch

If you're:

  • A hiring manager or founder looking for pre-vetted Ruby on Rails developers to build your engineering team, let’s talk. Don’t make your senior / lead devs waste countless hours scanning generic resumes and interviewing random people. Make them focus on a pre-filtered set of vetted candidates.

  • A Rails developer looking for your next opportunity, tell me more about yourself, your salary expectations, and what kind of team or company you’re looking to join. I won’t guarantee that I will find a job for you immediately, but whenever a suitable opportunity comes up, you’ll be on my list.

  • A technical recruiter who wants help with technical screening, happy to collaborate. I am not competing with you and it can be a win-win arrangement. I can help you source candidates and do the first round of interviews to assess the technical skills of the candidate. Your clients will get a vetted and filtered set of candidates.

If that sounds good and you'd like to have a call with me, please email me at akshay@typeangle.com.

You don't need a bloated hiring pipeline or fancy assessments. You just need someone who knows the stack, understands what a good developer looks like, and can help you hire with confidence.

Let’s make hiring better, for everyone involved.
